About

Fitness Scouts is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower Coloradans to engage in physical activity as well as healthy habits and lifestyles by creating opportunities through monetary and equipment donations.

Founded by “Coach” Stacy Fowler, a Personal Trainer, coach, and educator, Fitness Scouts was created out of her burning desire to be a game changer – encouraging physical activity among Coloradans of all ages and physical abilities.

Fitness Scouts creates opportunities for athletic involvement for individuals, groups, and organizations in need of equipment or the financial means to pay sports registration fees. We “play forward” new athletic equipment and monetary donations to the community.

According to a recent Surgeon General Report, “Overweight and obesity….have reached epidemic proportions in the United States.” Nearly half of American youths aged 12-21 years are not vigorously active on a regular basis. Less and less of children’s leisure time is spent in physical activities. What’s more, youths spend an average of six hours a day with media – cell phones, television, radio, video games and internet. It’s not surprising, then, that today there are nearly twice as many overweight children and almost three times as many overweight adolescents as there were in 1980. Fitness Scouts encourages Coloradoans to get up off the couch and get in the game – and provides the means to do so by granting funds and athletic equipment to organizations and individuals who demonstrate a need.
